This tallit is inspired by a stained-glass window in the sanctuary of Bnai Jeshurun in Manhattan, a window the artist often faces during the Amidah prayer. Even on gray days, the bold sun at the center of the glass seems to shine through, reminding us that light persists.
Across the center of the tallit, a black lead-like line holds two Hebrew verses:
And the light is sweet, and it is good for the eyes to see the sun. - Kohelet (Ecclesiastes) 11:7 From the rising of the sun until its setting, the name of God is praised. - Psalm 113:3
