Inspired by a story of survival and resilience, this necklace is a symbol of heritage and remembrance. Crafted in honor of Or, whose grandmother revealed her Jewish roots shortly before passing, this Star of David necklace holds a deep personal meaning. Having survived the Holocaust, the original necklace was lost, but its legacy lives on in this recreated piece.
This beautiful story is the reason Miriam Merenfeld created this classic piece for Or.
From Or: Let me share with you the story of a necklace I lost in Manchester. This necklace has a profound history: it survived the Holocaust. My grandmother, who passed away about a year before I moved to South Africa, revealed on her deathbed that she was Jewish. She had escaped from either the Netherlands or Germany during that dark period.
Receiving this necklace as a gift was incredibly meaningful to me, and losing it is something I struggle to forgive myself for. I hope that somehow, this marks the closing of a circle. Am Israel Chai.
