The Priestly Blessing, (Birkat Kohanim), also known as Nesiat Kapayim, (literally: Raising the Hands), is a Jewish prayer recited by Kohanim (Cohens) during certain Jewish prayer services. It is based on a scriptural verse, 'They shall place My name upon the children of Israel, and I Myself shall bless them.' Aaron (Moses' brother -- the first Cohen) and his sons bless the Israelites with this blessing.
